Hawker Hurricane
History
The Hawker Hurricane, designed
by Sydney Camm, was the workhorse of Royal Air Force
fighter command throughout WWII. The Hurricane is
assured a place of honour in the Aviation Hall of
Fame as the first monoplane fighter to enter service
with the Royal Air Force, and the first British fighter
to exceed 300 MPH in level flight. It served in every
theatre of WWII, from beginning to end.
Rugged and
reliable and easily serviced, the Hurricane could
take incredible punishment and still make it back
to base. It carried various armament from eight .303
Browning machine guns to two 40mm Vickers type "S"
anti tank cannons and two .303 Brownings in the MK
IID (tin opener). Used to great effect in North Africa
and Europe against German tanks, truly a great fighter,
well suited to its work.
Clark Industries is proud
to introduce its 1/4 scale recreation of the Hurricane
IIC 4 gun fighter. Housing the now famous Clark RR
Merlin 105.6cc inline twin with scale functional exhaust
stacks down to the precision scale working undercarriage,
the legend lives on in tribute to those courageous
young men who flew her in combat in WWII, and especially
to those forever young.

also holding a little right rudder. Let off the elevator
